The Nalie Show Live / The event of the Fall
The Nalie Show Live – Nalie Agustin, breast cancer thriver twice over, founder of Feel it on the First, host of The Nalie Show, and leader of #NaliesArmy, is moving from the web to the stage. Join her on Saturday, September 23 at St James Theatre in Old Port.
Who is Nalie?
In January, Nalie launched her weekly online talk show around the same time that she was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time—this time it had spread to her lungs. In true Nalie fashion, her struggles motivated her to reach out to others. Despite working through rounds of chemotherapy, she has created a new show each Monday for her eager viewers.
What is The Nalie Show?
The Nalie Show brings special guests into each episode to talk about how they cope with their own struggle and find beauty in the breakdowns of life. They often cover “taboo” topics. “The beauty about my show is that every single person is completely different,” Nalie said. “Every single person has a completely different story, but if you keep watching the show, you will see there are so many similarities in our struggles.”
Despite the differences between the stories of her guests, the message of The Nalie Show remains constant. “Everyone goes to hell and back, but if you find beauty in it, you can make a difference for yourself and for others.”
After six rounds of chemotherapy, a recent scan showed a significant decrease in the nodules in her lungs. “I wanted to find a way to celebrate. I wanted to find a way to thank my supporters,” Nalie said. She also wanted to find a way to give back. She started planning The Nalie Show Live.
What can I expect from The Nalie Show Live?
The Nalie Show Live will bring in celebrity guests, the inspiring stories of past Nalie Show guests, games, giveaways, performances, and surprises. It’s a gathering of #NaliesArmy under one roof for an evening of raw discussion, real inspiration, and extraordinary stories.
Carmelita Jeter, also known as the “Fastest Woman Alive,” will tell her story of perseverance that won her an Olympic gold medal. After tearing her quad muscle in 2013, Carmelita was told that she would never run again. “She was so passionate about running that she didn’t believe what anyone said. She believed in herself,” Nalie said. “She ran her heart out and won.”
Former NFL linebacker, Chris Draft, will share his personal experience with cancer. Two months after marrying his healthy wife, Keasha, he lost her to lung cancer. “Instead of letting that destroy him, he decided to live her legacy,” Nalie said. He created the Chris Draft Family Foundation to spread awareness and empower families with lung cancer.
Nalie will also chat with her panel of local guests. “We will talk about how we overcame our struggles and found beauty in the worst things that have happened to us,” she said.
This show isn’t just for cancer thrivers. “It’s for anyone who needs motivation and inspiration to overcome whatever their battle may be,” Nalie said. She hopes they see her on stage, mid cancer treatment, alongside the roster of inspirational guests, and decide to stop making excuses. “Whatever your dreams are, whatever it is you want to do, if you put your mind to it, you can do it!” That’s what I want people to get out of the Nalie Show Live.
The Nalie Show Live gives back
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation, specifically to support Metastatic Breast Cancer Research. Nalie met with the lead researcher who works at her hospital personally to learn about how the funds will be used. “He told me what they are doing, and it’s hopeful,” she said. It’s research that could save lives.
