Tribute to Leonard Cohen: “When Even The” by Clara Furey
MAC – “When Even The”is a cycle of performances choreographed and performed by the talented Clara Furey, inspired by some of Leonard Cohen’s poems. In this 90 minute work, which will be performed for 90 days at the Museum of Modern Art in Montreal, Clara Furey engages in an existential reflection on memory, the passage of time and death, which all reflect major themes in Cohen’s work. She explores the sensuality of the dead and of the living, the memory of physical presence and of touch and the sometimes absence of the self. She reflects on her own human condition through her relationships to our status of perishable being and proposes incarnations and a comforting ending to our lives.
Performances will be held until April 9th 2018, so there is still plenty of time to go see Clara Furey’s work and choreographies. Furey’s exhibition is not the only one paying tribute to Leonard Cohen, many more artists will be showcasing their work at the MAC as of January 2018. All artists commemorating Cohen are part of a prevention titled “A Crack in Everything”, putting forward Cohen’s ability to be an artist in many different ways, representing Montreal culture.
