Women With Knives at the Phi Centre
Food – Women With Knives is a series of socio-culinary events with Ana Roš about the position of female chefs in some of the biggest kitchens in the world. This Winter, the Phi Centre will be hosting a number of culinary personalities for the Women With Knives series, which will help to understand and to highlight the work of women in major food establishments. This one of a kind event will be an opportunity not only to discover new chefs and culinary experiences, but also to understand the position of women in an industry that is not always talked about in that way.
There will be various activities revolving around a conference featuring Slovenian chef, Ana Roš, who was voted best female chef in the world in 2017 by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Some of the events include a conversation about gender equality in the gastronomic world with Ana Roš, Colombe St-Pierre, sociologist Deborah A. Harris and Mitchell Davis. There will also be two cooking demonstrations with Ana Roš and Colombe St-Pierre as well as a gourmet dinner.
Chef Ana Roš works and co-owns the restaurant, Hiša Franko, and represents in her dishes Slovenia’s gastronomic reputation. She became popular after her appearance on the series “Chef’s Table” on Netflix and is now internationally known amongst the gastronomic scene. She strives to maintain a “zero kilometre” menu by choosing local produce that she finds in proximity of her restaurant. This event at the Phi Centre will be as unique occasion to meet one of the world’s most successful and skilful chefs.
