M Beauty Bar – Where everybody knows your name; No this is not Cheers
By Alyssa De Rosa – Montreal Times
As many women are aware, getting our hair, nails and pedicures done monthly is not only a hassle but can also become very annoying when the appointments don’t find themselves under one roof. Thankfully, in October 2013 M Beauty Bar opened its doors at 8461 Viau in St-Leonard, offering its clients the opportunity to get all their fixings in one location.
Owner Melisa Bauco always had a creative side to her. Being raised in an Italian family, the idea of going to university was constantly drilled in her head so she did and found herself working in the financial field for a very long time. “I realized I was doing something that I knew wasn’t for me. I had too much personality to be working behind a desk all day long,” she explains.
With no idea what she was going to do, she began taking make-up classes and started booking appointments on a freelance basis. She decided it was a time there exist a place where make-up and all her favorite things be incorporated under one roof. Low and behold, M Beauty Bar, a place that’s not your typical salon, but rather a location where r you can get your hair and mani/pedi’s done along with a facial.
Now, you’re probably thinking why it is called a “beauty bar.” It’s all in the name, really. The aesthetics of the place resemble a bar with high bar stools, and high table counters with an actual coffee bar in the centre where a “bartender” will serve you coffee and fresh made Italian goodies. Biscotti anyone?
“When people think about M Beauty Bar I want them to know it’s a place where they can come, be comfortable and get great customer service. This place not only represents business but my name as well and I want people to feel welcome,” Bauco says while describing what her salon means to her.
In a year Bauco’s sights are much higher. Would you like a Cosmo with your manicure? Hoping to receive a liquor licence by next year, I guarantee that M Beauty Bar will be the only salon offering liquid courage with a haircut.
