Emergency Siren Test Happening in MTL
Siren Test – Each year, the Civil Security Center, in collaboration with other companies, installes emergency sirens to alert the population in case of toxic leaks. In order to make sure that these new installations work, the team of technicians will be running a test of the sirens on Tuesday November 14th at 2 p.m. These sirens are installed in order to alert people outside to find shelter rapidly. The purpose of the test is to verify their proper functioning. Here is a map of some of the areas which will be affected tomorrow.
The emergency siren simulation test will be heard in 12 different districts of Montreal as well as in 4 different affiliated cities linked to the City of Montreal. The residents of these places should have received a letter explaining the upcoming tests. It will be possible that, depending on weather conditions, some people may hear very little at the edges of the affected areas. The siren tests will last up to 3 minutes in each district affected.
