Major Highway 20 Closures this Weekend
Highway 20 Closures – Drivers beware. Major work to tear out old roadways around the Turcot Interchange will force the closure of highways this weekend between downtown to 1st Avenue in Lachine – from midnight on Friday February 16th to 5:00am Monday morning. It is complicated to understand and visualize, but here is what you need to know:
The Turcot Interchange for the most part, including the Pullman loop will be closed. The only connections open are:
– Highway 20 East to Highway 15 South
– Decarie Expressway to Highway 15 South
– Highway 15 North to Decarie Expressway
Heading East drivers will be forced off Highway 20 at Exit 62. Drivers coming from the Mercier Bridge will also not be able to head east. They will have to take Montreal Toronto Blvd. and Notre Dame St., running parallel to Highway 20, until they can access the highway via Angrignon Boulevard – but the eastbound connection through the Turcot will be closed, so drivers will have to take Highway 15 south.
Heading West from the downtown core, you won’t be able to take Route 136 or Highway 20. Westbound drivers will have to take Exit 5 inside the tunnel.
The Angrignon/Pullman entrance to Highway 20 West will also be closed. The first access point will be at Richmond St. or the entrance from the Mercier Bridge/Highway 138 – the first place to access Highway 20 West will be at Richmond Rd.
They will be taking down the elevated portions of the old Highway 720 West as they begin tearing up out the Westbound 20 overpass in Montreal West.
*There will be no access for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers on Glen Road, as the road underneath the highway will also be closed between St. Jacques St. and St. Catherine St. – but there will be a shuttle bus scheduled to run every 15 to 20 minutes because of the closures.
