Montreal Fashion Week – When Montreal Fashion Week ended after 2013, the festival organizers took on the task of making sure Le Festival Mode et Design would thrive more than ever before and that vibe was truly echoed at the 17th edition. To co-incide with the city’s 375th anniversary, absent were the usual commercial brands like Guess & Marciano or Le Chateau. Instead, models walked in attire from collections by designers from both Cégep Marie-Victorin School of Fashion and Lasalle College. Quebec designers Denis Gagnon, Marie Saint Pierre and Philippe Dubuc presented their collections in an outdoor venue with a water fountain that made the experience feel like a Versace or Dolce & Gabbana show. To close the festival, Mélanie Joly, the Minister of Canadian Heritage, unveiled the last show, a showcase of Canadian designers to the theme of celebrating Canada 150.
