Have you Heard? Montreal installing heated sidewalks
Montreal installing heated sidewalks – One of the most difficult aspects about living in such cold temperatures is all the ice that forms onto the sidewalks, which means a lot of slipping and falling on our way out. However, Montreal is taking the initiative to start installing heated sidewalks on Sainte-Catherine street as of 2018. The City of Montreal announced this project back in 2015 and has been slowly thinking about finally taking action.

The sidewalks on Saint-Catherine will be heated at 3 C, just warm enough to prevent snow and ice to accumulate on them. The heating installed on the sidewalks will save costs on clearing snow every day and on salt costs for the city. The work for this huge project should start early in 2018, according to the City of Montreal. This project will also encourage Montrealers and tourists alike to spend more time outside during the Winter and to shop more, bringing more business to the stores on Sainte-Catherine street.
