Montreal Irish Embassy Fire – Early Saturday morning over 120 firefighters were called to a five alarm fire which broke out in the apartments above the Montreal Irish Embassy Pub & Grill at 1234 Bishop, Montreal. The third floor caught fire just after 5:00 A.M. this morning. The buildings beside the Irish Embassy have been evacuated. At this time there have been no injuries reported.
Fire fighters are trying to gain control of the fire however they fear it may take several hours to gain control and extinguish the flames. Bishop Street is completely closed from St. Catherine and de Maisonneuve blvd. The surrounding downtown streets are filled with heavy smoke.
The Irish Embassy which is located on the first floor has not been touched by flames but at this point will be damaged by water and smoke damage.
