Montreal Canadiens, after 25 games…
The Montreal sports scene this year has been a wreck. Both the Montreal Alouettes and Impact had awful seasons. When October came along there was a sense of hope that the Montreal Canadiens would at least turn the end of 2017 into a positive for the city.
However, after a quarter of a season the Habs have joined the wreck as well. Nothing has been going right. The offence has been failing. The defence has been collapsing and their star goalie, Carey Price has not been himself and had to take some time off due to the famous and mysterious “lower body injury”. The fans and critics have pretty much written this season off. They want Marc Bergevin gone and want to start the rebuild and even wanting Carey Price traded!
Perhaps, the fans and critics should hold that thought at least until the end of their home stand which ends December 14th. Carey Price returned this past Saturday night and is looking like in elite form. He earned his first shutout of the season against Buffalo and only allowed 1 goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets and was named first star in both of his starts. The defence, even without Webber has been more organized. The offence, still a bit light, is finding it’s way. But, the key is Price. With an elite Price, the Canadiens will always have a chance to win.
The Habs next 7 games will define their season. 6 of their 7 games are at home and currently sit 6 points out of a wildcard playoff spot. Again, it’s all about Carey Price. If the Price is right then the Canadiens will be alright.
Leave your comments and thoughts below. Do you believe the Canadiens will make the playoffs? Or should Geoff Molson step in and just hit reset?
