Montreal Canadiens Head Office changes
Montreal Canadiens President and CEO, Geoff Molson, announced today that Senior Vice President of Communications Donald Beauchamp will be leaving the organization effective May 15. He will remain involved as a member of the Board of Directors of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation.
“I regret to announce that Donald Beauchamp is leaving his position of Senior Vice President of Communications after 25 years of loyal services. Donald’s work over these years has been remarkable and he will certainly be missed by everyone”, said Geoff Molson.
Donald’s professional achievements in the field of sports communications are as numerous as they are impressive. He joined the Canadiens on August 24, 1993 as Director of Communications and, in 2002 he was promoted to the position of Vice President, Communications and Community Relations. Over his long career, he witnessed over 2,200 Canadiens games and was called upon to oversee several high profile events and occurrences, including the national funerals for Maurice Richard in 2000 and Jean Béliveau in 2014, the club’s Centennial celebrations in 2009 as well as the emotional return of team captain Saku Koivu on April 9, 2002.
“After a quarter of century in this challenging role that requires total commitment, I realized that the timing is right to depart as I intend to dedicate more time to my family. It is with a heavy heart that I came to this decision, however the time has come to move on”, said Beauchamp.
The Canadiens occupied an important place in the Beauchamp family with the Bell Centre’s press lounge dedicated to Donald’s uncle Jacques Beauchamp, the legendary journalist who covered the Canadiens for over three decades.
“I would like to thank Geoff Molson as well as all members of the organization and members of the media I had the opportunity to work with over the years for their support and friendship,” concluded Donald Beauchamp.
