Montreal Formula E race cancelled
Montreal Formula E race cancelled – One of the new Mayor’s campaign promises was to hold the Formula E race at the Circuit Gilles Vileneuve or to cancel the race altogether. The Formula E race cost the city tax payers a whopping $24 million plus for a six year contract. Radio-Canada announced the the race organizers used almost all of their line of credit for the first race which was in the amount of $10 million.
A week before the election it came out that almost half of the tickets were given away to people so it didn’t look like a flop. Figures will show that 25,000 tickets were sold and 20,000 were given away to spectators.
The Formula E race was a massive debate and criticism for Montreal residents. Montrealers wanted to know why they had to pay for this race while other cities on the circuit did not.
If the race is cancelled Montreal will have to pay major fines to break the contract that will exceed millions of dollars
