Montreal CycleSwap 2018 – Sell or Buy used bicycles for a good cause
Montreal CycleSwap 2018 – This year’s Montreal CycleSwap 2018 fundraising event will benefit the Montreal Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and its purchase of a much needed Cerebral/Neuro Probe for their Ultrasound machines. Hosted by the ‘Friends of the MUHC’ foundation and ‘Cycle Neron’, it will be taking place this Sunday May 6th at Lower Canada College, 4090 Royal Avenue.
Their goal is to raise $12,500 and they are hoping you can help them reach that – by bringing in a used bicycle that you can sell or donate, or coming down and buying one.
If you have a used bicycle, in decent enough condition and rideable, Cycle Neron Montreal will be there with their knowledgeable mechanics from 8:30am to 12:00pm to do a tech-check on it. They ask that you bring it in clean and even tuned-up (air, brakes and chain) as they will not have the parts or people to do repairs that day.
Their certified mechanics will record its serial number and help to price each bicycle – but you will set the selling price. You can then choose to donate the bicycle or sell it and receive 80% of the price it is sold at. You will be asked to sign a ‘Seller’s Agreement’. All unsold bicycles are either returned to the seller if specified – or their partner, Cycle Nord-Sud, will recycle them for parts or ship the bikes overseas. For further details on the terms and conditions of registering your bicycle and selling it, please go to their website (link below).
If you are a buyer looking for a great deal on a good bicycle (Road, Mountain, Hybrids, Kids and Cruisers) this could be a great opportunity. Experienced cyclists will be on hand to help you find a good fit and the type of bicycle that suits you. Buyers are allowed on site to purchase a bicycle between 1:00pm and 3:00pm. You can pay with cash, debit or credit card and bikes will be sold ‘as is’ with no returns or refunds.
Other activities will include: a helmet fitting clinic, an obstacle course for kids (courtesy of Pedalheads) and there will be snacks and music on site. No pets allowed on site.
The Friends of the MUHC is a charitable organization of volunteer ambassadors dedicated to easing and enhancing the hospital experience for all. Their mission is to promote patient welfare, create a welcoming environment within the hospital, and engage the community in support of the MUHC.
