Shaeleigh Rose Spracklin named 2018 Queen of Hudson’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and her court (photos)
2018 Queen of Hudson’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade- The organizing committee of Hudson’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is proud to announce that Shaeleigh Rose Spracklin has been named 2018 Queen of Hudson’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade .
Spracklin, a resident of St. Lazare, is joined by Samara O’Gorman of Ste. Anne de Bellevue and Kimberlee O’Brien of St. Laurent, who have been named princesses, and long-time Hudson resident Judy Tellier, who has been named Queen Mum. Together, they form the traditional court for the 2018 St. Patrick’s season.
The Queen and her court were awarded prizes from Kennedy Celtic Boutique in Pointe Claire, with Spracklin receiving a $500 cash award from the parade committee, and O’Gorman and O’Brien each receiving a cheque for $100.
Judges evaluate the participants on confidence, public speaking, community involvement, spirit and crowd participation during a gala event at the Whitlock Golf and Country Club on Saturday, Feb. 24, which marked the official kick-off to the St. Patrick season in Hudson, which will culminate with the parade on Saturday, March 17.
“The Queen and her Court for 2018 are wonderful representatives of the Irish community, and will be great ambassadors for the Hudson St. Patrick’s Day Parade,” said parade director Jim Beauchamp.
The Queen and her court will be featured in the Hudson parade, as well as guests who will participate in the Montreal parade on March 18 and the Châteauguay St. Patrick’s parade on March 24.
The next event of the Hudson St. Patrick’s season is the traditional Grand Marshal’s Roast & Toast honouring this year’s parade Grand Marshal Andrew Carter on Saturday, March 3, at the Whitlock Golf and Country Club, 128 Côte St. Charles, in Hudson.
