Generation Foundation Annual bagel-thon at St. Viatuer Bagel on Monkland

An idea that began in their basement in 1999 has grown into a lifeline to those in need all over the Montreal area. “We are retired but we love doing this!” Adrian Bercovici says of him and his wife. In 2001, their tiny idea of helping a few children eat a hot meal moved to a bigger location with the help of those around them. Companies stepped up to the plate and donated equipment and their time along with individuals to ensure that children receive breakfast and a hot meal at lunch.
Over a hundred schools depend on them to feed their students whose families can’t afford to keep their young fed. A child who is hungry can’t focus or be expected to have the ability to participate in everyday school curriculum and activities.
With all the help the Foundation has been receiving from their regular supporters they have been able to charge the wonderful amount of ZERO dollars to the schools and shelters. This is something they hope to always be able to provide.
To keep the Generation Foundation afloat and bellies fed, donations are a must. The Foundation holds special events throughout the year. To begin the New Year; their 1st annual Fundraiser is the Back to School Bagel -Thon at St. Viateur Bagel in NDG’s Monkland Village. Every penny made between 6 to 10 am will be donated to the Generation Foundation. Get your orders in beforehand or show up in person to help support this incredible life saving cause.
Raffle tickets will be sold; prizes will be won, wine bottles, vases, gift certificates and sports equipment are a few of the items to be won. An Auction will be displayed in the restaurant; it will be a busy 4 hours in St. Viateur Bagel. Adrian Bercovici, Executive Director of the Generation Foundation says that Nick Morena and his family of St. Viateur Bagel, is so supportive and wonderful to hold this event. Last year they raised $17,000 in 4 hours, can’t wait to see the results of this year!
Mark your calanders and see you there at St-Viateur Bagel & Cafe, 5629 Monkland, NDG on Thursday September 17th, 2015 from 6am to 10am. Every little bit helps!
