Healthy Habits to Start in the New Year
Health – As the old saying goes, “new year, new me”. Every year, we try to set ourselves new goals for the new year to come, however, how many of us actually keep track of them and succeed in doing them ? In 2018, why not right your list on your phone in “Notes”, so you can easily refer back to them and in 2019, you’ll be able to scroll down to them and see which ones you succeeded in completing and those which need to be renewed. For some new and fresh ideas, here at the Montreal Times we’ve selected a few new year’s resolutions which we think everybody could benefit from. Enjoy !
Yoga is a fantastic way to relax from a busy schedule no matter the type of yoga you chose to do. It also helps balance and strengthen your core and usually, yoga studios offer early morning classes for those who have to go to work early and even evening classes up until 9:00 pm. No matter where you live in the city, yoga studios are everywhere and are becoming popular amongst all types of ages. To see if you enjoy it and can incorporate it in your routine, why not try it for a month and see if it helps you de-strees a little from your busy schedule ?
Healthy habits doesn’t only include habits for yourself, but also for the environment you live in. Using the car and other means of personal transportation every day, is extremely polluting to the air around us. A way to help reduce pollution, is to start slowly using public transport in your life if you and have the time to. Yes, having your own car is usually more practical for time efficiency, however it is nice not to have to defrost your car every morning in Winter and only have to simply hop onto the metro to get to work.
House plants are not only a fantastic way to boost your decor in your space, but they also offer a number of benefits to your health and to the air around you. Having some green friends in your house or in your apartment is always very impressive (if you can keep them alive) to friends and family who come to visit. There are so many different types of plants which are suitable for dark spaces as well as spaces with a bit more light. We guarantee you, these green friends will brighten up your life even more !
Every day, we are consumed by media, publicities and we are constantly hooked to our devices. A way to switch off from your devices is to set out a few days each month, even a week if your work or studies allow it, and completely detox from all of them. Set a week, maybe at the start of every month in 2018, and use that time to further your reading, make more plans to see friends and family, take the time to go on walks and keep outside. By setting out a few days each month to detox from your devices, you’ll see the benefits quicker than you expected to.
