STM bus driver said he is not disinfecting bus and Covid-19 is a hoax

Deciding whether to use public transit or not during the Covid-19 pandemic is challenging enough for some people. And when an STM bus driver said he is not disinfecting bus and Covid-19 is a hoax, it is more than disconcerting. The bus driver in question made these claims on a post he put up on his Facebook page, but it has since been deleted, according to a CTV News report. However, not before some screenshots of his post were taken. As well, he might not have been wearing a facemask, based on a picture posted on his page.

STM bus driver said he is not disinfecting bus and Covid-19 is a hoax

Today, I no longer disinfect my bus because it is a false pandemic in order to better control people, he wrote, according to the report. The driver also claimed the coronavirus is ‘not dangerous to those with good immune systems’ and ‘people don’t need a vaccine… that will make us even more sick’ and said he came those conclusions after doing some research. What type of research he did is more than questionable. And what may be just as disturbing are those who also believe the virus is fake and that it was created by governments and the media ‘to better control people’. His post only perpetuates the same notions that have been seen on social media platforms – by the few, but very vocal people who believe the whole pandemic is a global conspiracy.

In an email sent to CTV, the STM said all buses are cleaned daily by maintenance teams and ‘of course, we also ask our employees to follow public health and hygiene guidelines’. Then on Twitter they added, ‘One bad apple doesn’t spoil the bunch… and the very vast majority of them are doing a tremendous job following strict measures and recommendations in place since the beginning of the pandemic, to protect clients, colleagues and themselves altogether’. To date, the STM has not yet announced how it will be dealing with the bus driver.
