An artisanal white from the Rhone Valley in France. Made with 40% Clairette, 30% Bourboulenc and 30% Grenache Blanc with the additional 10% Ugni Blanc. Aromas of lychee, acacia, jasmine tea and rose blossom water. Crisp and refreshing with a subdued mineral finale. Pair it with Asian appetizers, seafood and turkey pies.
Calmel & Joseph Villa Blanche Chardonnay 2016 SAQ # 12257292 $16.15
A sunny Chardonnay from the south of France that it is on the top 10 chardonnay du monde. A rich nose bringing to mind lemon jelly, dried fruits and spices. Round and floral with a pleasant spicy kick coming from the oak aging of the wine. Pair it with salmon wellington or linguini with scallops and cream sauce.

Fontanafredda is an Italian household name for the production of premium Piedmontese wines. This Gavi is a wonderful introduction to the Cortese grape. Perfumed nose bringing to mind peach, fennel with chamomile flowers.. Fresh and round with a crisp acidity. Harmonious with a firm finale. Pair it with seafood platter, roasted ham or rabbit in sauce.
Domaine de la Vieille Julienne lieu-dit Clavin Côtes du Rhône 2014 SAQ # 10919133 $28.65
A top Southern Rhone domain with more than 100 years of history. This biological red is a blend of equal parts old vine Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. Brooding with spiced red fruits and infused with garrigue, it has lots of animal nuances. Fresh and very elegant with muscular tannins. Pair it with prime rib roast, rack of loam or deer medallions.

Hailing from Cahors, the motherland of Malbec, this Cahors exhibits ripe dark fruit aromas with nuances of licorice, vanilla and sandalwood. Warm and generous on the mouth, it has opulent and fine tannins with touches of cacao and balsamic cream. Pair it with beef stews, duck casseroles or game meat pies.
Cave de Roquebrun Granges des Combes Saint-Chinian 2015 SAQ # 11661023 $19.75
A great value wine from one of the top appellations in the Languedoc. Great aromas of ripe blackberries, cofee with szechuan pepper and roasted herbs. On the mouth, full body with ripe and concentrated aromas of black cherry and leather. Good muscular tannins with a racy finale. Pair it with French Canadian meatball stew or a braised lamb shoulder.
Marcel Cabelier Crémant du Jura Brut 2012 SAQ # 13295047 $21.80
The sparkling wines of Jura always fascinate me. They are always so original. This sparkling brings to mind aromas of grilled hazelnuts, roasted herbs and macadamia nuts. It is fresh tasting and smooth with complex tasting notes that bring to mind tahini and baked apple character. Pair it with oysters or even a baked brie with dry fruits.
Antech Crémant de Limoux Cuvée Expression 2015 SAQ # 10666084 $19.00
Antech, is a domaine specialized in the elaboration of sparkling wines in the Crémant de Limoux appellation in the south of France. This cremant is the result of careful work to assemble Chardonnay, Chenin and Mauzac. A lovely mineral bouquet with complex nuances of hazelnut spread, japanese pear and white chocolate. Dry and gastronomical displaying floral flavors in a pleasant saline finale. Pair it with seafood salads, or terrine specialties.
Nino Franco Brut Prosecco di Valdobbiadene SAQ # 349662 $20.60
A fantastic prosecco with a good price. Lemon danoise, white cherries, ripe yellow apple character with a touch of almond. Also as well, honey nougat. Medium body with a nice persistent bubble and a lovely floral aftertaste. Pair it with salmon or poultry canapes.
Champagne Drappier Carte D’Or Brut SAQ # 734699 $46.25
The Carte d’Or cuvée is the very expression of the Drappier style. With its very high proportion of Pinot Noir, one is almost tasting a Blanc de Noirs. A fine nose that brings to mind oatmeal biscuit with white orchard fruit and subtle mineral nuances. Full body with a good balance and structure and a gorgeous elegance with a well modest price. Pairing well with mini pulled pork hamburgers.
Champagne Brimoncourt Régence Brut SAQ # 13349586 $57.25
A fantastic grower champagne that I discovered in October at a press tasting. Complex nose of toasty. Elegant nose of toasty oak, blanched almond with caramelized nuts and dry fruits. On the palate, delicate and balanced with nuances of lemon oil, brioche and white flowers. Pairing well with shrimp tempura.
