De Ville-Marie à Demain – Architectural and Montreal City buffs exhibit – 375Mtl
If a city is akin to a living organism, its architecture is its spine, and as Frank Gehry, architect says, “architecture should speak of its time and place but aspire to be timeless”. That is what inspired the organisation of the major exhibition DE VILLE-MARIE À DEMAIN, which will be held at Place des Arts, from September 7th to the 12th, at the Salon Urbain and in the grand outdoor staircase between St-Urbain street and the Place des Arts esplanade, next to the Maison Symphonique.
Entry to the exhibition will be free and accessible since visitors will be able to access it from outside (via the St-Urbain staircase) or from inside (via the Salon Urbain) at the crossroads between the Place des Arts, the Maison Symphonique and the metro. DE VILLE-MARIE À DEMAIN, an event organised by the promoter Robert J. Vézina from Gestion Villes du Futur, is part of the official programming of the celebrations of Montréal’s 375th anniversary. This monumental exhibition will piece together 3D models, posters and virtual reality presentations showcasing significant buildings and major ground installations which left their marks in Montréal’s history. DE VILLE-MARIE À DEMAIN will put the emphasis on Montréal’s architectural heritage but also on the city’s present and future.
“We are happy to include DE VILLE-MARIE À DEMAIN in the city’s 375th anniversary programming. It is fascinating to see all the successive architectural styles which shaped the our city in the last 375 years. The exhibition is also an opportunity to foresee the future through ambitious projects that represent the city’s energy and creativity, » said Mr Alain Gignac, General Manager for the Society for the Celebrations of Montréal’s 375th Anniversary.
