Door to Door Scammers In Dorval and West Island…Beware!
DORVAL: The City of Dorval issued a warning about scammers who are going door to door scammers in the West Island saying they are on contract from the city and authorized to check their heating systems – and then apparently trying to sell them heating systems.
On their Facebook page they put out a statement:
“Over the past few days, several residents have received suspicious visits from solicitors at their homes. You must know that door-to-door solicitation is prohibited on the Dorval territory unless the organization has first obtained an authorization from the City. Please note that no such authorization has been given over the past few weeks. In case of doubt, we invite you to contact the City at 514 633-4040. Lastly, if you witness any illegal solicitation, please call Public Security at 514 633-4046.”
Several residents reported that someone from a company has either called them or come to their homes and then insisting on checking their furnaces and hot water systems – and some have reported them as being quite aggressive. There have also been similar reports from residents in other West Island areas.
The City of Dorval is working with the police and advises those who have been approached by this company to call public security or the police.
