Electric Go-Kart Track for West Island
Electric Go-Kart Track – Want to have fun indulging your inner race car driver – in an electric go-kart? Adults and children in the West Island may soon have the opportunity to test their podium potential. It might not be on a Formula E racetrack, nor will the go-karts go from 0 to 62 mph in under 3 seconds – but it is certain to offer you the best and safest, indoor race around. And it won’t involve closing off streets.
Action 500, the company behind this endeavor, who have two indoor track centres in Montreal East and Laval, have achieved an important step in making the West Island home to their first battery-operated karts. The city of Dorval recently approved zoning for their project in an empty 42,000 sq.ft. building located near Sources Blvd. and the service road of Hwy 40. They are hoping to receive the green flag from the Montreal agglomeration council sometime in November.
The karts in their other centres are gas-powered – but they will be going green with the new electric karts, where emissions will not be a concern. The Dorval location would also have their popular Laser Tag fields and X-CAPE room, for those who prefer getting their adrenaline rush another way.
If all goes well and financing is secured, they hope to open the new track by the spring of 2018.
So get your engines revved up and perhaps you’ll be seeing the checkered flag at the end of the race!
