Galipeault Bridge reopened to traffic
Galipeault Bridge reopened – After having to close the Galipeault Bridge, effectively cutting off Highway 20 between Montreal and Ile-Perrot, Transport Quebec announced the bridge has been reopened and said the integrity of the structure remains intact.
They had decided to close it in both directions last Sunday night as water levels became too high and dangerous vehicles to cross – leaving commuters to find detours via the Ile-aux-Tourtes Bridge on Highway 40.
Many commuters reported being delayed by an additional hour to two hours, but being safe was their priority. Rising water levels appear to have slowed down and there are hopes the worst is over for those affected by the unprecedented flooding.
