Montreal Marathon cut in half due to heat wave
Montreal Marathon – Record heat wave in Montreal didn’t stop 11, 586 courageous runners to line up for the full Montreal Marathon. However, due to the extreme heat of almost 40 degrees the organizers decided to make it into a half marathon. Most marathoners were disappointed due to their long training schedule however they opted to do the half marathon.
Montreal Marathon organizers set up extra water stations with plenty of water sprinklers and fire hydrants to keep the runners cool. Almost 900 runners were treated for heat exhaustion and other marathon injuries.
