Prime BBQ Cie. – Fall off the bone delicious
Prime BBQ Cie – When my friend Wes and I walked into Prime BBQ Cie., we were welcomed at the door by owner and host for the evening, Billy Xynos. Prime BBQ Cie, which has been open a mere few months, is big with spread apart tables, allowing for intimate and comfortable dining. There is a sizeable terrasse, which will be open as soon as the weather warms up.
We decided to start the meal with cocktails. I chose the Indian Summer ($10) from the choice of five house cocktails for myself, and Wes chose a Mojito. The menu offers various items, ranging from meat-lover choices, to fish and seafood, as well as homemade veggie burgers and a children’s menu. We started with the Classic Nachos entrée ($7) and the General Tao Calamari entrée ($12).
We were surprised at the low prices, and expected to receive rather small portions, but quite to the contrary, the portions were more than generous, and enough to share. The quality of the nachos dish set the stage for the all of the food to come, it was superior: homemade corn chips, with freshly cut cherry tomatoes, delicious guacamole and sour cream, and just the right amount of fresh coriander! I would gladly come back for this dish alone, munching on those delicious nachos, with a cold beer on the terasse would be a good way to unwind on a warm summer night. Billy explained that there was a story behind our next entrée, the General Tao Calamari. He discovered this addictive sweet and salty combination when he accidentally dropped General Tao sauce on some Calamari while dining at home with his wife. After a bit of recipe tweaking, the item was added to the menu, and Wes and I cleaned the plate!
Our main dishes were the Pitmaster for two ($40) and the Cajun Shrimp Jambalaya ($23). Billy suggested that we have the pitmaster served with the Bacon Brussels Sprouts instead of fries. These are offered as an entrée for 8$, and I preferred them to the fries: salty roasted Brussel sprouts that contrasted with the sweet chunky bacon bites. The meat was, as promised in the menu, smoked to perfection! It fell off the bone and melted in the mouth. Delicious! You must come and try this meat, you will be very satisfied with the quality! The shrimp dish consisted of three jumbo shrimp, served on a bed of perfectly spiced rice and sausage. It was not difficult to eat most of this dish, even though it was a big portion.
The dessert menu varies at Prime BBQ Cie. On our evening there, we were offered a slice of vanilla cheesecake ($7) and homemade cornbread waffles ($5), served with icing sugar and whipped cream.
Both desserts were quite satisfying. I highly recommend you give Prime BBQ Cie. a try, since this restaurant is on its way to becoming the standard venue for many people to enjoy a meal with friends and family.
