Provigo and Maxi West Island stores team up to donate food to toddlers
Provigo and Maxi West Island – Provigo and Maxi stores of the West Island region are proud to be contributors to the Great Food Drive for Children, a fundraising campaign organized by Moisson Montréal and Moisson Rive-Sud which aims to help 20,000 children aged 5 and under who are in need across Greater Montreal. The two banners gave $4,100, and their customers came together to generously contribute $5,500 in cash donations.
“We are especially proud of the way our stores, our colleagues and the community have come together to raise funds and help the many families touched by food insecurity. As grocery stores solidly implanted in the West Island, we are dedicated to ensuring that every child can be fed in a healthy manner and in sufficient quantities,” said Glenn Action, Vice-President, Promotions and Allowances, Discount Division, Quebec and Ontario for Loblaw.
“We have a long-standing relationship with both Provigo and Maxi and we are thrilled to count on them this year as title sponsor of the sixth edition of the Great Food Drive for Children. The needs of the communities continue to rise and this type of generous donation from the Maxi store of Pierrefonds, the Maxi&Cie store of Pointe-Claire as well as the Provigo Le Marché stores of Kirkland and Pierrefonds will allow us to help in a very tangible manner numerous local organizations,” explained Richard D. Daneau, Executive Director, Moisson Montréal.
The Provigo and Maxi banners also invite their customers to participate in-store in support of this great cause. Shoppers are encouraged to buy additional nonperishable items and leave them in the donation bins through the end of the month to support the cause and make a difference themselves.
What to donate?
• Baby formula
• Fortified canned infant formula
• Baby food
• Instant cereals
• Diapers, wipes or any other non-perishable goods for toddlers
The community values of mutual aid and altruism of the Great Food Drive for Children are perfectly in line with those of the Provigo and Maxi banners, and this is why this partnership is such a natural fit, as the two organizations look to jointly make a difference for children in the West Island to help them reach their full potential. Throughout the year, Provigo and Maxi stores take several measures to contribute within the community through such initiatives as Media’s Big Food Drive and numerous food banks across the province.
