Windmill Heights Golf and Country Club – Fore! Reasons to joining!
Windmill Heights Golf & Country Club has been a part of Montreal since 1974, but has recently endured some major changes. In 2013, the current owners purchased the outdated club and gave the whole facility a facelift to serve members better. Here’s four reasons why we love Windmill Heights, and why you should join.
Club members enjoy 18 holes on beautiful, tree-lined fairways. “It’s a 6700-yard course that plays a little longer, and challenges golfers of all levels,” said club President, Lino Carbone. “It’s a strategic course, but friendly to all levels.” Risk and reward holes forces players to hit great shots. Members can hit the ball around in their practice facilities before spending the day on the greens, or head straight to the course to try their hand at par.
Aside from the course, Windmill Heights is a full-service club with a pro-shop, dining room and terrace, and members lounge.
- Enjoy 5-star dining alongside incredible views.
The dining room, terrace, bar, and lounge set this club apart from their competitors. The dining room is actually a recently renovated 3200 square feet masterpiece with cathedral ceilings. Oversized windows feature views of the golf course, Lac Saint Louis, and downtown Montreal. The terrace overlooks the 18th green—it’s the perfect place to take a break after a day on the course. The food itself is 5-star modern Italian, and the drinks are delicious.
- Approachable owners make for an unmatched complete membership experience.
The food is fantastic, but what really sets Windmill Heights apart is its service: “We focus on the complete membership experience. There’s more to being a member at a private golf club than just golf,” said Carbone. “It’s the whole package. It includes the service; it includes the dining.”
The team running the club is actively involved in all aspects of the business. Carbone especially enjoys interacting with the members to give them the ultimate experience: “I play the course 3 times a week. I see what’s going on. I interact with the members, so if there are issues, they can talk to me about anything. That’s very important.”
The approachability of the decision makers ensures that everything in the club is running smoothly. “We have an open door policy,” said Carbone. “People come in to talk to me about what they think is good or not good.” The way that members are treated adds to the desirable atmosphere of the club and course.
- Friendly members and a welcoming atmosphere.
Not only are the decision makers approachable, but the members are friendly as well. All of the members are polite and welcoming to new faces at the club. “Everyone plays with everyone,” said Carbone. “It’s easy to find a game, and it’s easy to get along.” The club also regularly hosts member events, fun games, and dinners to get members playing and chatting.
Windmill Heights is all about relaxation. “The atmosphere we are trying to create here is when you get to the club, it’s like you check the rest of your life at the door,” said Carbone. “It’s a good warm feeling just to be here. We nurture that warm feeling.” Find warmth in a great game with fellow members, a hot meal in their luxury dining space, or a delicious drink.
Above par: Privately owned for a no-assessments guarantee.
The best part—financially—about Windmill Heights is the fact that their private ownership guarantees no assessments. “What you pay going in is what you pay all year,” said Carbone. “There are no surprises.”
Windmill Heights Golf and Country Club is located just ten minutes from the West Island. The golf course is open from April 1 through to December 31. Memberships range from $1500-3500.
