The municipality of Côte Saint-Luc has passed a bylaw at city council this past Monday night that will enforce anyone visiting or living in Côte Saint-Luc to wear a face mask as of July 1, 2020. This will be the first municipality in Montreal enforcing this bylaw making masks mandatory.
This includes these areas of Côte Saint-Luc:
- indoor public spaces
- all stores and businesses
- all municipal buildings
The goal of this new bylaw is to reduce and help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the municipality. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 Côte Saint-Luc has 492 confirmed cases and to date 34 deaths.
Côte Saint-Luc Mayor Mitchell Brownstein stated people with respiratory issues will not be effected by the new bylaw.
As of yet the Government of Quebec has not made masks mandatory however the government health experts strongly recommend wearing some sort of face covering to help prevent the spreading of COVID-19.
