The Montreal Police issued state of Emergency effective as of Midnight Sunday March 22, 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus.
Gatherings of more than two people will be broken up and you could face fines of up to $1,000.

The Montreal police have issued this Statement, ” Specialized teams have been reassigned to support the efforts of patrol officers who are ensuring that the public understands measures implemented to protect the population’s health.”
The Quebec government is trying to limit the person-to-person contact and spread of COVID-19 with this two ore more people bad on gatherings.
People are asked to comply with Montreal Police otherwise could face up to a $1,000 fine. If people completely refuse they may be arrested.
The Premier of Quebec François Legault urges all Quebecers to stay home unless absolutely necessary he has even asked influencers to tell young and old Quebecers to take this virus very serious.
At this time both police forces, Montreal Police and the Sûreté du Quebec (SQ) have only given friendly advice.
Here are the exceptions to the ban:
- Travelling on public transit
- Meetings for work with employees
- gatherings of a private home
- Meetings in a public place for a service, such as a testing facility, government offices or businesses not subject to closure mandates.
