The sold out 22nd edition of Bal en Blanc was held at the Palais des congrès,this past Easter weekend. Participants enjoyed performances by more than twenty internationally recognized DJ’s and producers, including Grammy award winner Afrojack, Deorro, DJ Sneak, Sultan + Shepard and many others. The event, with it’s theme of “Hippie Chic”, was also an opportunity to unveil its new association with One Drop ™, an organisation that provides access to safe water to communities in need around the world. The event included a special collaboration with 45 DEGREES, Cirque du Soleil’s Events and Special Projects company, which performed a memorable exclusive performance.
Arts at the heart of the festival
This year, arts and culture were an important part of Bal en Blanc, with the participation of four local well-known urban Montreal artists: Stikki Peaches, Jason Wasserman, Whatisadam and Xray. In addition, as part of its new artistic mission, the local arts community was also invited to submit public art installations in connection with the theme of the event. Ten finalists had the chance to exhibit their work on the site at the Bal en Blanc, to the delight of festival goers. The winner of the contest, The Stag by the Paperclub Collective, elected by a panel composed of three judges from the local arts community, as well as the fans, was also awarded a grant of $2,500.
With its association with One Drop ™, an international non-profit organisation based in Montreal, and with the participation of 45 DEGREES, Cirque du Soleil’s Events and Special projects company, Produkt aims to pave the way for a larger partnership in 2017. This partnership will turn the world-renowned Bal en Blanc festival into a benefit event where all proceeds will go to One DropTM, helping providing access to safe water worldwide.
