Art – Olivier Grossetête is a visual artist known worldwide for his monumental ephemeral constructions, imagined and created from cardboard boxes. He has toured the world with his constructions, including Marseille, Moscow, Philadelphia and many more. Now it is time for Montreal to experience Grossetête’s visionary mind. He will be creating the largest construction in cardboard boxes Quebec has ever known. His creation will be a reproduction of the Jacque-Cartier Bridge and will be calling upon Montrealers to help him build it. His creations are done without any machine or cranes, only some enthusiasm and incredible collective strength.
Grossetête’s creation for Montreal will be of the Jacques-Cartier Bridge and will be presented on Saturday September 15th 2018 at the Place des Festivals, before being destroyed the day after. From Monday September 10th until Friday September 14th, Olivier Grossetête and his team are inviting you to help them build their massive construction. Assemble, cut and create the cardboard boxes which will help build the final project. There will be many different events surrounding this construction, sign up to any of them by clicking here. The activities which are open to the public are completely FREE of charge, but sign up quickly because places are limited. Enjoy !
