West Island Blues Festival 2018 – On the morning of May 14, 2018, a press conference was held to marked the launch of the 15th edition of the West Island Blues Festival at the Madison’s Restaurant & Bar in Dollard-des-Ormeaux. The members of the festival’s organizing committee were present, including Errol Johnson, City Councillor in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Dimitrios (Jim) Beis, Borough Mayor Pierrefonds-Roxboro, and Benoit Langevin, Borough Councillor Pierrefonds-Roxboro, as well as the representatives of major sponsors, Allstate Insurance and the TD Canada Trust Bank as well as, the members of organizations receiving the funds raised by the event. The mayor of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Alex Bottausci, gave a speech and Brian Greenway’s Blues Bus offered a short performance.
A unique festival, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for non-profit organizations for fifteen years. This year, the organizations that will share the proceeds of the event are Alzheimer Group Inc., WIBCA, Literacy Without Limits, AJOI and the West Island Women’s Shelter.
The festival is divided into two events. The first is a VIP evening that will take place on May 24 at the Pierrefonds Cultural Center. Tickets are on sale through the festival website or via its Facebook page at a cost of $ 100 each. Big J and the Rippers will be the head liners for the VIP night and the Record Breakers will be the opening act . The outdoor festival will take place on June 16th. Viewers will have the pleasure of seeing the following bands perform: Brothers in Blues, Miche Love & Louis Janelle Band, Riot & The Blues Devils with guest Dwayne Dixon, Brian Greenway’s Blues Bus, and finally 5 Avenues.
