Dan Aykroyd Creates the Official Caesar of 2018 – Some things are a natural fit. Bread and butter. Salt and pepper. Legendary Canadian and legendary Canadian cocktail. Now the final pair can be enjoyed thanks to Dan Aykroyd!
The Saturday Night Live Alumnus, Oscar Nominee, Ghost Busters co-creator and legendary comedian is showcasing his Canadian roots by creating the official Caesar of 2018.
“When I learned Canadians consumed more than 407 million Caesars last year alone and that a group of Caesar-loving Canadians created a day just to celebrate Canada’s Cocktail, I knew I wanted to be a part of it,” said Aykroyd.
Each Thursday before the May long weekend, Canadians celebrate National Caesar Day to honour Canada’s Cocktail, as declared by Parliament in 2009. Dan Aykroyd is joining the team to create the official Caesar of May 17th 2018, which he calls “The Hot Head Caesar.”
A zesty take on the classic, Aykroyd blends fresh garlic, lime juice, and Sriracha sauce with his own Crystal Head vodka and Mott’s Clamato. Unlike traditional recipes however, there’s one thing missing – the garnish!
“A Caesar this great deserves something more inspired than a celery stalk,” said Aykroyd of his Hot Head Caesar. “I’ve seen Canadians create some spectacular garnishes over the years, so I want their help to choose the best one for my Caesar.”
Whether it’s the most elaborate, appealing, or creative garnish, Canadians will be able to submit their recommendations for Aykroyd to review at www.GarnishDansCaesar.ca. The Canadian who suggests his favourite garnish will join him in Toronto on National Caesar Day where they’ll toast Canada’s favourite new holiday with the Caesar they created together.
Canadians can enter until May 2nd and the winner will be announced on May 7th, 2018.
