The Royal Wedding in Montreal – A Virtual Invitation from Bar George
The Royal Wedding in Montreal – You may not have received an official invitation to the wedding of the year, but you do have a chance to virtually attend the nuptials with your favourite beau or friend by your side at the British-inspired restaurant Bar George – located at the Le Mount Stephen Hotel in Montreal at 1440 rue Drummond Street.
This Saturday May 19th, they will be opening their doors at 6:30am in preparation of watching Meghan Markle walk down the aisle and marry Britain’s Prince Henry of Wales, more popularly known as the charming, red-headed Prince Harry. He is the younger son of Charles, Prince of Wales and the late Diana, Princess of Wales – and is sixth in the line of succession to the British throne.
Meghan Markle, who has captivated the hearts of many a royal follower, was born in Los Angeles in 1981, but eventually moved to Toronto sometime in 2011 – where it was rumored the two met. She moved from there last November to join her Prince in the UK. She will be the second American and the first person of mixed race heritage to marry into the British royal family.
What better way to commemorate this memorable event than in one of Montreal’s most historic settings – with a British connection.
Bar George is ‘a modern-day rendezvous set in the grand heritage home once belonging to Sir George Stephen’. As they also state on their website, ‘Our spirit is strong, and our food and drink are proper – and we’re not just all mouth and no trousers. We’re about heady nosh, strong hooch and bloody good Sunday joints… you won’t want to miss this bloody good time!’
And their British-inspired breakfast menu, with their special three-layered platter ‘fit for a queen’, featuring strawberries and cream, scones with jams and butter, cookies, brownies and tea sandwiches is sure to please. Their bartenders will be serving up pitchers of Pimm’s Cup, ‘perfect for early morning sipping’. And if you prefer to toast the royal couple with a little bubbly, you can indulge in a make-your-own mimosa or Aperol Spritz.
You might not be able to make it to St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England, but you can have a lovely virtual experience with those of same mind right here in Montreal – and a ‘Top o’ the mornin’ to ya!’
