TMR Provigo gets makeover
Inauguration in the Town of Mount Royal of the new Provigo Le Marché concept flagship store
This morning, the senior management of Provigo, a member of the Loblaw group (TSX: L) took advantage of the inauguration of its all-new urban Provigo Le Marché store in the Town of Mount Royal to present a glowing report of Provigo banner’s relaunch in Québec.
“The inauguration of our new Town of Mount Royal Provigo Le Marché store today marks a significant step, as this is our fourth Provigo Le Marché store to be inaugurated on the island of Montreal in over a decade,” said Provigo Group Director, Mr. Sylvain Jodoin. “With its cutting-edge urban concept, its customer services and its panoply of products carefully selected to meet the banner’s rigorous criteria, this new store with its contemporary decor will certainly please residents of the Town of Mount Royal.”
Located in a silver-level LEED-certified building, the Town of Mount Royal Provigo Le Marché store will be the very first store from the banner to use CO2 refrigeration systems, an innovative method that is much more efficient from an environmental perspective. In an effort to battle food waste, the Town of Mount Royal Provigo Le Marché store will also work together with the Moisson Montréal food bank and AZN2,a company that specialises in the re-use of organic materials, to manage unsold produce. Through the Food Recovery Program in Supermarkets, the store will give food that is no longer conducive to be sold to people living in precarious food situations, and expired products will be sent to Serres Gabriel on Île Perrot for composting.
The Provigo Le Marché store in the Town of Mount Royal is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week, at 2386 Chemin Lucerne in Montreal. With a total sale surface of 38,434 ft2, and an easily accessible proximity to the Metropolitan Highway, this supermarket with a vast space dedicated to fresh products offers its customers a complete range of services provided with care by a motivated team who know the people of Montreal well. Residents of the neighbourhood will be able to enjoy a range of activities, like children’s food tastings, to celebrate the grand opening of their local food market.
The manager of the new store, Karine Gignac, and her team also took advantage of the inauguration to make a donation of $2,000 to the Town of Mount Royal Volunteer Centre in order to offer their support to the community. Caroline Emblem, the organisation’s president, was at the inauguration to thank members of the TMR Provigo Le Marché team for their generosity and their involvement.
“Five years ago, Québecers strongly reaffirmed to us their deep attachment toward the Provigo banner, established in Québec since 1969. It’s in this context, that the grand relaunch of Provigo was initiated,” said Mr. Pierre Dandoy, Senior Vice-President, Operations, for Provigo in Québec. “By offering a renewed experience focused on customer service, and abundant offer of local products, increased access to healthy products, a greater assortment of organic products, in-store chefs and nutritionists, a new rewards program and a series of new products like aged beef, a selection of 300 cheeses, a vast selection of freshly squeezed juices, a gelato bar and even bagels cooked on location, Provigo is more than ever ready to reconquer the hearts of Québecers. We are proud today to take note of such positive results from the relaunch of Provigo and delighted to tell our loyal customers that this is just the beginning!”
