DOCA…4 letters and a whole lot of taste! This Mediterranean hidden gemis situated in the Griffintown neighborhood,on Wellington St. close to the Bonnaventure highway. And rest assured: parking is not really an issue.
When you first come into the restaurant, the glass window reveals the beautiful interior design, with a French chateau décor and purple chairs. Thanks to Montreal’s Kiva Design, 2012 winner of the Grand Prix du Design. The service is fast and impeccable, matching the glamorous and welcoming venue. The perfect spot for a proposal or a date, if you ask me!
But let’s talk about the food.
If you have a small appetite, I would suggest you try the Chiogga beet salad as a cold appetizer. It has organic chiogga beets, with marjoram, rucola, fried feta, pecans and porto vinaigrette. There is also Oysters, and Tuna carpaccio – which I had the chance to try – and LOVED IT. Still in the appetizers, you’ve got the grilled octopus, the legendary calamari or the grilled quail that I strongly suggest.
Then comes the main dish…If you are a seafood lover, you will be served! From the Seared cod to the Chitarra with fresh lobster, or the giant grilled shrimp with faro risotto and lobster, anything you choose from this menu will satisfy both your hunger and your taste buds. Aside from the sea dishes, there’s also lamb, pork and beef, cooked to perfection!
Coffee? Desert? Coming right up! Known for its original name, the “Mi-cuitChocolat” is a dark chocolate dessert that will melt at every bite, and topped off with vanilla gelato. You will fall in love with the battered and fried doughnuts, with a side chocolate dip…so delighting!
Doca Restaurant is a unique gastronomic Montreal experience and I strongly suggest that you try it and find out for yourself.Griffintown’s got a whole new Mediterranean address!
