Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante revealed this past Wednesday that Montreal will be getting a new outdoor rink and park next year.
The name of the new Montreal project will be called Esplanade Tranquille and will be located in Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles at the vacant lot of the corner of Saint-Catherine Street and Clark.
In the winter months Esplanade Tranquille will be a large outdoor skating rink and in the summer months will be turned into lush park with trees and benches.
Mayor Plante said, “It’s to insure that Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles is busy all 12 months of the year.”
Montreal has said the project will cost $74 million. The park will be opened in the summer of 2020 and the outdoor skating rink to be winter of 2020.
