On December 13, under the direction of Christine Jensen, l’Orchestre National de Jazz de Montréal, will be presenting a concert fit for the Holiday Season. The first half of the evening includes composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece The Nutcracker Suite, rearranged by jazzmen Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. This is an exceptional opportunity to discover this Holiday classic or to rediscover it in a whole new light!
For the second half of the concert, the Orchestre will welcome to the stage Ranee Lee, one of Canada’s greatest voices. Winner of a Juno Award, this talented singer will be performing hand-picked jazz classics, such as I’ve Got the World on a String, If You Could See Me Now, I Just Found Out About Love and Lady Be Good. In addition to these, the Christmas classics Have Yourself A Merry Christmas and White Christmas will be revisited with a jazz twist. Arrangements on the pieces performed by Ranee Lee are done by Reg Schwager, Rick WIlkinson, Christopher Smith, Dave McMurdo and Mike Malone.
For the occasion, l’Orchestre National de Jazz de Montréal will be joined on stage by saxophonists André Leroux, Frank Lozano, Alex Côté, Samuel Blais and David Bellemare, trumpet players Dominic Léveillé, Lex French, David Carbonneau and Bill Mahar, trombone players Richard Gagnon, Mohammed Abdul Al Khabyyr, Dave Jespersen and Suzie Nadeau, pianist Marianne Trudel, guitarist Richard Ring, bass player Fraser Hollins and drummer Kevin Warren.
