Whether you’re from Montreal and looking to spend a night or two in one of the city’s best hotels or from out of town, follow my adventures while I’m on the hunt for the most luxurious hotels in the city.
Last Saturday, I spent the night at the W Hotel in Square Victoria. Having stayed at the W once before, I knew that the room would be spacious, clean and welcoming. When I first arrived I was greeted by the staff member at the counter with a smile and a lot of enthusiasm which was pleasant to see. As a local girl, I know exactly what to expect in my own city but from a tourist’s point of view, being greeted with nothing but positive vibes is an absolute must when visiting somewhere new.
I then walked up to my room, which I was told was a Mega Park View room so you can imagine my anticipation. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. The Mega Room includes a King size bed, an oversized bathtub, a shower, spacious sink counter, a sofa chair (a very comfy one) and high ceiling windows looking over the Square Victoria park. Despite the rainy weather the view was still beautiful.
The W Montreal offers its guests a selection of six different rooms: the Cozy room, the Wonderful room, the Mega room, the Fantastic suite, the Wow suite and the Extreme Wow suite. All prices and list amenities can be seen on their website wmontrealhotel.com
Once I settled in, I remember hearing a lot of really good things about this hotel’s bar called The Wunderbar so I checked it out. Spacious, glamorous but not over the top and equipped with the cutest purple and pink décor, the Wunderbar was everything I expected and more. I sat and ordered a Cosmopolitan where I met one of the nicest bar maids. I absolutely need to comment on the music – the DJ was incredible. I was bopping my head to old school jams along with Latin mixes and EDM beats we all know and love. At around 8:00 PM the bar started filling up with people, both from Montreal and from out of town. From the looks of it, the W attracts a lot of guests between the ages of 25 and 40, probably because of its ambiance and classiness.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed lounge, you can have a drink at the Plateau Lounge – luscious, spacious and stylish. No matter where you are at the W, the hotel offers its guests a party. From the city and looking for a cool place to chill? You can still hit up the Wunderbar and experience your city like a tourist.
As per the food, I ordered room service in evening as well as breakfast the following morning. The receptionist was so sweet and helpful and answered any questions I had regarding the menu, which is furnished from Ristorante Otto.
The food is very good and priced just as much as any room service menu would be. Having breakfast in bed on a Sunday on a King size bed overlooking the city of Montreal is what everyone wishes they can do – absolute perfection.
All in all, as a young 24-year-old woman staying in a city I’ve lived in my whole life, I would definitely recommend the W Montreal for any tourist, business venture and for locals looking to get a taste of the Montreal hotel scene. Professional, affordable, classy, fun and very friendly.
