Pierrefonds-Roxboro – At its May 7, 2018 meeting, the Borough Council approved a contract awarded to the lowest bidder, FARSRS Le Groupe St-Lambert, for the renovation of Versailles Pool, which will become a municipal pool open to the general public.
This is the second time that a non-profit organization (NPO) has transferred its facilities to the City for the benefit of the entire population. When private, pools are reserved for members of the organization. The first municipal swimming pool was inaugurated in 2014. This is the Valleycrest pool located in the western part of the borough.
The Association communautaire du parc Versailles has cancelled the usufruct it held on the land and the pool, at no cost to the Ville de Montréal, which becomes the owner. The pool and chalet located at 13209, rue Desjardins will be renovated in 2018 with an opening scheduled for spring 2019.
“I am extremely proud of the construction of a second municipal pool for our citizens. The borough had an important need to improve the quality and accessibility of its aquatic facilities. The Versailles pool, located in the centre of the borough, will serve a large portion of our population and will be open to the public, much to the delight of families, children, seniors and people with reduced mobility,” said Borough Mayor Dimitrios (Jim) Beis).
