West Island boroughs deploy sandbags

With water levels on the rise West Island boroughs Pierrefonds, Dorval, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and Senneville have started to hand out sand bags. The borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro have placed themselves on spring flooding high alert.

Water levels are expected to rise over the weekend due to melting snow and weather.

Weather over the next few days calls for 30 – 50 millimetres of rain in and around the Montreal area. Officials are checking the water level two to three times daily and have much more advanced tools.

All boroughs are asking the residents to prepare their properties. In 2017 the West Island was hit with the worst flood ever seen with damages in the millions.
