For many, happiness means finding love, giving birth or going through a significant life change. On Saturday August 16th, 2014, the Montreal community gathered at The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve to express their happiness while running The Color Run 5km marathon, also known as the “Happiest 5k on the Planet”.
Since 2012, The Color Run has donated over 1M$ to 80 local and national charities, raising funds with thousands of runners in every city. How does it work? Simple math:
1- SIGN UP for the race online;
2- SHOW UP at the start-line on the date of your city’s event, wearing an all-white running gear;
3- RUN 5km on your own pace, while getting showered with vivid colored powder until you reach the finish line!
Because it’s an un-timed race with no winner, anyone and everyone are welcomed to join the fun. “There were parents with their babies on their shoulders, and some in strollers, participating in the race”, said Anaïs Molina, a first time Color runner; “I even saw a blind man with a guide running next to him. It’s inspiring.” The race ended with a Finish Festival at Le Parc Jean-Drapeau, were thousands of participants partied in the name of healthiness, happiness and individuality.
