2nd Annual “Celebrate Baseball” celebration in Dorval
by Dick Nieuwendyk
On September 27 the kids of DB_Community Cares baseball (Formerly Dorval Pick-up baseball) held their 2nd annual “Celebrate Baseball” celebration at Gary Carter field in Dorval.
September 29, 2004 was a sad day for baseball fans in Montreal, it was the last game the Expos played in Montreal. For the second year the Kids and parents held to field to show off their Expos colours, play the game they love and Celebrate the resurgence of baseball in Montreal. Kids From DB_CC baseball, Baseball West Island and other organizations all participated in this fun event.
Last Sunday the kids of DB_CC baseball played a fun safe baseball game as they took on an adult all-star team, lead by former pro Luis Rodriguez; as well as parents, invited guests and well-known Expos baseball fans.It was a fun day in the sun on the field, both the young and young-at-heart players had a great time. All were in agreement Montreal needs a baseball team back.
DB_Community Cares baseball started in 2011. It is completely free, geared for those kids that may not be able to afford other sports, or cannot play competitive sports. DB_CC is open to everyone who wants to come out learn and play baseball, no matter their skill level or abilities.
Our Two Former Pros Luis Rodriguez handing out the MVP award to Matthew and John Elias handing out the MVP to Autumn as the adult all-stars waived their MVP to give another to the DB team.
