Protest outside Montreal City Hall against new tax hike
Protest outside City Hall – The first protest against the newly elected Valerie Plante Administration was this morning at the Montreal City Hall with a few dozen protesters waving there hand made signs.
Critics say that they newly elected Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante broke one of her campaign promises not to increase taxes above the rate of inflation (1.8%)
Mayor Plante insists she has keep her campaign promise and explains that the water tax was part of the increase and that had not been increased in the past four year.
Organzier of the protest is Restauranteur and businessman Peter Sergakis, “The Mayor said she was not going to raise taxes past inflation and she was going to help businesses of Montreal. She lied!”
