Montreal Canadiens agree to terms with Joel Armia
Montreal – General manager Marc Bergevin announced on Friday that the Canadiens have agreed to terms with forward Joel Armia on a one-year contract.
The deal will pay the 25-year-old Finn $1.85 million during the 2018-19 campaign.
Armia was acquired from the Winnipeg Jets in a trade on June 30.
Last season, the four-year NHL veteran enjoyed his most productive season points-wise, setting single-season highs in all three major offensive categories with 12 goals, 17 assists and 29 points in 79 games.
He also appeared in 13 playoff games for the Jets during their run to the Western Conference Finals, chipping in with a pair of goals.
A native of Pori, Finland, Armia was selected 16th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 2011. He boasts 26 goals and 58 points in 180 career NHL games.
