The Eagles won their first game 41-14
They are called the Eagles but they could very well be the Phoenix.
After a 20-year hiatus, the Lindsay Place High School tackle football team is back – and they will be playing their first game tomorrow, (Friday, Sept. 6). against College de Montreal.
The game takes place at 5:30 p.m. on the St. John Fisher Field, located behind the school on Broadway Ave. in Pointe Claire.
“We`re very excited –coach Jordan Coones and the players have been practicing all summer on their own time,” said Principal Dona Bianchi, noting the team would not have been reborn without hard work by Lindsay Place Math teacher Saadia Ashraf who applied for a government grant to fund the team.
“We`re hoping the community will come to the games to cheer the Eagles on,” Bianchi said. “So bring your chairs and your enthusiasm – it`s going to be a great football season.”
