On November 2nd culminated the 12th Edition of the Purolator Tackle Hunger Program with the last Montreal Alouettes home game before the playoffs. Since 2003, Purolator and the CFL have teamed up to help alleviate suffering caused by hunger all through Canada.
It all starts in the first week of June when Purolator challenges its employees and clients to donate to a local food bank. All season long, Purolator makes a donation to this same food bank whenever the local team sacks its opponent’s quarterback. Finally, the fans are also asked to contribute with non-perishable food items or cash in exchange for a picture with the Grey Cup, on display at the various Tackle Hunger events.
Sun Youth wishes to thank the Montreal Alouettes, the players, their wives and Purolator for their precious support through the Tackle Hunger Program. The Sun Youth Food bank needs all the help it can get with some 2,000 families receiving food assistance from the organization on a monthly basis. Through the support of Al’s fans, Purolator and all the volunteers involved this year, the equivalent of 13,200 pounds of food were collected for Sun Youth!
