Easter may be a thing of the past for this year but Sun Youth received its fair share of sweets thanks to longtime partner Galerie au Chocolat (8985 Henri-Bourassa West in Montreal). On April 28th the organization’s Food Bank received a donation of close to 200 kilos of various types of chocolate such as black chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate and other fine Belgian chocolate for which Galerie au Chocolat is renowned for. Coming in every shape and size, many Easter bunnies were among the items received by Sun Youth and, in turn, donated to the numerous families with children receiving food assistance from the Montreal charity. While many children were made happy by this generous donation, this gift will also benefit other young users of Sun Youth’s services. Indeed, the organization’s Day camps and Summer Camp will be taking advantage of this gift to satisfy the sweet tooth of their young campers as part of the meals provided to them all summer long.
Sun Youth would like to thank Galerie au Chocolat for this sweetest of donations and reminds companies and individuals that non-perishable food donations are always needed by the organization’s Food Bank, which caters to the needs of some 2,400 underprivileged families on a monthly basis. Donations are especially hard to come by in the summer period where the needs are as great as in the Holiday period. Unlike most people, poverty never takes a vacation, even in the summer.
