On November 3rd, Sun Youth launched its 61st annual campaign. Christmas might still be two months away but hundreds of families have already registered for a Holiday basket at Sun Youth.  This Holiday period has its roots in many cultures and is celebrated in different ways but exchanging gifts, lighting candles and decorating trees have been part of the celebrations for centuries. It is also one of the holidays most cherished by children of all ages for it often means Santa Claus will be bringing them presents. For parents, it also represents an opportunity to teach their children how to give as well as to receive. At Sun Youth, it means that thousands of underprivileged Montreal families will count on the community’s generosity to brighten their holidays with enough food for them to prepare a holiday meal and new toys for their young ones.

Once again this year, our organization will distribute some 5,000 Christmas baskets and nearly as many new toys to children aged 12 and under. In this way, we hope to give disadvantaged families an opportunity to gather together to live the Holiday spirit and to feel friendship and human warmth. Contributions at this time of year not only help us realize our Holiday wishes, but will also allow us to renew our support to the community during the dark winter months by bringing our beneficiaries a comforting light !
