On Sunday, October 20th, as part of the Purolator Tackle Hunger Program, Montreal Alouettes’ fans were asked to show support for their team by bringing a non-perishable food item to the Percival Molson Stadium or to make a monetary donation. In exchange, they were able to get their picture taken with the Grey Cup and win an autographed Anthony Calvillo jersey. All donations collected went to the Sun Youth Food Bank. As usual, the Alouettes fans were very generous as the equivalent of $26,700 pounds of food was collected through this initiative, bringing the total to some 175,000 pounds since the beginning of this joint venture in 2006.
On behalf of the many underprivileged families who will benefit from this donation, Sun Youth would like to thank all Purolator volunteers who took part in the event, the players’ wives who also volunteered their time during the food drive, the Montreal Alouettes and Purolator for supporting Sun Youth year after year. Most importantly, the organization would like to thank the Alouettes’ fans for their renewed generosity this year.
