From September 26 to 28, 2014, the 18th edition of the Journées de la culture, an initiative of “Culture pour tous”, will be held. For the occasion, the City of Dorval is proud to offer free cultural and artistic activities.
First, on Saturday, September 27 at 10:30 a.m., on the grounds of the Dorval Library, the Lakeshore Concert Band will present a classical music concert and hold a workshop about the musicians’ work and orchestral instruments. The workshop will be conducted in English and French, for people of all ages. In case of rain, the event will be held at the Peter B. Yeomans Cultural Centre. Then, on Sunday, September 28 at 1:30 p.m., children ages 5 to 9 are invited to attend a shadow theatre presentation at the Dorval Library. Participants will be shown how to manipulate shadow theatre puppets. They will create a shadow theatre silhouette and will practice with professional lights. The show and the workshop will be presented in French only. Places are limited and reservation is required. Please call 514 633-4071 to reserve your place.
Lastly, on Sunday, September 28, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Dorval Weavers’ Guild and the Dorval Potters’ Guild will hold an open house to present their art, their looms and pottery wheels, as well as their techniques at the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre. No reservation is required.
